**this is a LONG post**
After a long journey, our little boy has finally arrived safely and healthy. On the day of my scheduled induction, our little baby decided to come early and without being induced. There were a few scary moments where his heart beat dropped in the low 40's, being told we would have to have an emergency c-section, to being told the baby had gone potty (meconium) and that would cause more problems all the way to a very fast delivery--so fast that our two older children didn't have time to be escorted to the visitors lounge and witnessed their little brother's birth!
This is the last day that I was pregnant. Sadly, I already miss his movements, but am so excited to be able to hold him in my arms.
Because the girls were in the room while the baby was born, they were the first people to meet him as my husband was still at my side. They were a little scared (not of the birth process, but if William was okay or not) so you can see where their noses are a little red from crying. Luckily, even though it was a bumpy road, our little man was born healthy--with the exception of having an upper respiratory infection due to going potty before birth.
Lastly here is Mama with her new little baby--the baby that the girls call a "time stealer"
So I'm sure everyone is wondering about the details.....this is the birth announcement that was sent to
Winkflash and sent out to friends and family
So our little man, William John, was born on February 19, 2013 at 9:46am.
He weighed 8lbs, 2oz and measured 20 inches long
I knew I needed to scrap William's birth story before I forgot, so here is my two page spread about his birth

So what does that journaling say?
If you want to read it, here is William's birth story, with some details deleted
Mama was scheduled to be induced on Tuesday, February 19,
2013 at **name of hospital and location removed**. On the morning of her induction, she was to
call Labor and Delivery at 5:30am to see if there were any beds available. That morning, Mama was already awake, nervous
with anticipation of finally being able to meet her little boy. Daddy woke a few minutes earlier than his
alarm clock and called Labor and Delivery for Mama as she finished getting
ready. After getting off the phone,
Daddy told Mama that there was a bed available and we were to come in as soon
as we could. Mama headed downstairs to
eat breakfast, as she knew once the induction started she wouldn’t be allowed
to eat. After Daddy was dressed, he woke
both of the girls so they too could get ready to leave. M and B were coming to the hospital, but were
not staying for your birth. Later in the
morning, after Mee-Mom’s shift was over, Mee-Mom and Grumpy would be driving to
the hospital so that they could pick up the girls and head back to the house
until you were born.
We arrived at the hospital around 6:30am. The nurse showed us to our room, where Mama
would be induced, and told Mama to get changed in the hospital gown. Once changed, Mama took a few photos of her
pregnant belly with the family. Around
7:30, the nurses hooked Mama up to a monitor to see if she were having any
contractions as well as to monitor future contractions. Not long after being hooked up to the
monitor, the nurse asked Mama if she felt the tightness in her belly. Of course Mama felt it, she thought you were
just moving and adjusting within her belly.
As it turned out, they were contractions; she just didn’t realize they
were contractions. Even though Mama was
having contractions, they weren’t steady (happening 2-3 minutes apart) and weren’t
strong enough to have you, but it was exciting to see that Mama was having
contractions.
Around 8:00, Mama’s midwife came in to the room to check
Mama for progress, talk about the induction as well as answer any questions
about what was going to happen. The
midwife told Mama that her cervix was soft, but very closed, meaning her body
wasn’t ready to have a baby. The midwife
also thought you were breeched, so she did another ultrasound to make sure your
head was down. Mama was so relieved that
your head was down and you weren’t breeched, but she was very nervous hearing
you were very high, another sign you were not ready to be born. After talking with Mama, the midwife gave
Mama a ¼ pill of Cervidil in hopes that it would soften her cervix more,
allowing it to open when the induction started.
The midwife told Mama that they wouldn’t start the induction (Pitocin)
until about 4 hours after the pill had been given, meaning Mee-Mom and Grumpy
had plenty of time to get to the hospital, since Mama wouldn’t start her
induction until it was closer to noon.
With that news, Daddy called Mee-Mom so they knew what to expect. After the phone call, Daddy started a movie
for the girls while Mama answered the admitting questions that the nurse had to
fill out.
An hour later went by; lots of questions were asked and
answered. During one of the questions
that the nurse was asking, Mama had a contraction that was a little
painful. To get past the pain, Mama held
her breath. Little did she know that the
nurse noticed your heart rate dropping during the contraction. She told Mama to breathe, but your heart rate
wouldn’t come back to normal. She was
very nervous and told Mama to roll over to her right side. Your heart rate still didn’t come back to
normal. The nurse called in another
nurse who helped Mama roll from one side to the other. Finally, when Mama was on her back, your
heart rate came back to normal. It was
then that the nurse told Mama if your heart rate continued to drop, they would
have to do an emergency c-section for your safety. Mama started crying, not because of the
thought of getting a c-section, but the thought that something might be wrong
with you. The nurse left the room to
let the ob doctor know of the heart rate dropping with the contraction so he
was aware, since he would be the one who would do the c-section.
9:20 Mama asked her nurse if she could please go to the bathroom as she had
been holding it for almost an hour. The
nurse looked at Mama’s monitor and decided she could head to the bathroom. Around 9:30, Mama came back to the bed and
was hooked back up to the monitor. Two
minutes later, Mama had another contraction, immediately felt sick to her
stomach and Mama said, “Either I just wet the bed, or my water just broke”
Followed by “oh I’m going to puke” and the nurse handed her a basket in case
she got sick. A minute or so later, Mama
felt better, and the nurse checked to see if Mama’s water had broken only to
discover that you had gone potty. The
nurse left to let the ob doctor and pediatrics doctor know, since both of them
had to be present since you passed meconium.
Mama told Daddy that he might want to call Mee-Mom and let her know that
they might not make it to your birth.
During the phone call Mama had another contraction, this one a little
bit stronger than the last one. After
Daddy got off the phone, Mama had another contraction to which she yelled,
“Daddy get the nurse, Im having this baby”
Daddy rang the call bell, with no response and then ran out of the room
to get the nurse.
The nurse, followed by a dozen other nurses and two
doctors came running in the room. The
midwife checked Mama and said, “I can’t believe you are ready to have this
baby. I feel his head right there” She
held your head to prevent you from being born, while Mama had another
contraction and told Mama “do not push, we aren’t ready” At that time, Daddy
tried to get M and B out of the room, but there wasn’t any time to escort them
in the visitors lounge so they had to stay and see your birth. Once the birthing area was set up, the
midwife told Mama to push. Mama was
confused and said, “I’m not having a contraction” but the midwife said to push
anyways. No contraction and two pushes
later at 9:46am, you were born!
There you go, the birth and story of our little man that is truly a miracle and blessing from God. Even through my sleepless nights, I still cry at the fact that after all of these years, God has blessed us with a beautiful little boy. He truly was worth waiting for all these years!
